About this tool

What Image Converter does

Convert images to verified JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, ICO or BMP files locally.

Conversion decodes visible pixels and re-encodes them with a verified destination codec. AVIF uses a local WebAssembly encoder, GIF uses palette and LZW encoding, ICO contains six PNG-backed sizes, and BMP is written as a 24-bit bitmap instead of receiving a renamed PNG payload.

Tips for better results

  • JPG and BMP replace transparent pixels with the selected color.
  • Animated GIF inputs export the decoded first frame in this still-image converter.
  • Avoid repeatedly converting an already lossy source.
  • Processing stays in the current browser tab; download the result before closing it.
