Plan before you post

Instagram Layout Planner

Arrange finished posts into a 3x3 profile grid, see how Instagram will crop each thumbnail, and get the exact order to upload them in.

Add your posts

Drop the images you plan to publish, in any order. Nothing is uploaded — previews are rendered locally.

Need to cut one image into grid pieces?

This planner arranges posts you already have. To slice a single image into a 3x3 grid or into carousel slides, use the splitter instead.

Reverse upload order

Instagram inserts each new post top-left, so a designed grid must be posted backwards. Every tile is numbered with its real upload position.

Profile crop preview

Profile thumbnails are square while feed posts are 4:5. Toggle "Show uncropped" to see exactly what the square thumbnail cuts off.

Drag to rearrange

Move tiles until the rows read the way you want. Spacing and post numbers are preview aids and never touch the exported images.

How it works

1

Add posts

Drop in the images you plan to publish. Order does not matter yet.

2

Arrange the grid

Drag tiles until the profile grid looks right, and check the crop and feed previews.

3

Post in order

Follow the numbering — highest number last, so the top-left tile is published last.

Frequently Asked Questions

What order do I post in to build a grid?
Instagram shows the newest post first, in the top-left cell. The image you want in the bottom-right corner has to be posted first, and the top-left one last. The number on each tile is its upload position.
Does this split an image into 9 pieces?
No. That is the job of the Instagram grid maker. This page plans the order and layout of posts you already have.
Why is my image cropped in the profile grid?
Profile thumbnails are square, while feed posts can be 4:5 portrait. Turn on "Show uncropped" to see what the square crop removes.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Previews and the exported grid plan are rendered in your browser with canvas, so the files never leave your device.
