IMAGE NEVER UPLOADED

First use downloads and caches the browser AI runtime and Apache-2.0 quality model. Only model files are requested; your image stays on this device.

Beta implementation note.

This beta defaults to a 1024px IS-Net general-subject model and keeps MODNet as a faster portrait option. Both run in a dedicated browser worker, prefer WebGPU and automatically fall back to WASM; your image remains on this device.

How it works

  1. 01

    Choose a subject-focused photo

Add a portrait or clearly separated subject and let the browser generate the first local AI mask.

  2. 02

    Balance the edge and blur

Refine the foreground with Keep or Erase, adjust edge softness and control the background blur while watching the live result.

  3. 03

    Save the focused image

Composite the sharp subject over the blurred source and export a JPG or PNG at full resolution.

About this tool

What Blur Background does

Keep the subject sharp while softening the background.

The blur is applied only to the source behind the editable local alpha matte. Model inference and compositing both remain on the device.

Tips for better results

  • Use moderate blur for a natural result.
  • Inspect hair in Compare and Mask views.
  • Keep a high-resolution source for export.
  • Processing stays in the current browser tab; download the result before closing it.
